Centenary Series: Metropolis

Stella Rathmines presents Metropolis as part of our Centenary Series of events. This is a special presentation of the most unique cinematic achievement from the silent era with a live contemporary score by Matthew Nolan and Neil O’Connor. Featuring guest musicians Lisa Dowdall (Viola) and Sharon Phelan (vocals/synths.) Fritz Lang’s sci-fi epic depicts a dystopian future in which society is thoroughly divided in two: while anonymous workers conduct their endless drudgery below ground their rulers enjoy a decadent life of leisure and luxury. This event offers audiences a unique and immersive 1920s cinema experience not to be missed! A film from the holdings of the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung (www.murnau-stiftung.de) in Wiesbaden.
